considering it’s halloween weekend - not random at all!! t’challa has actually faced off with zombies. when this man says he has experience, he has experience. it was on another universe where the x-men/avengers/etc etc were zombies who had killed the inhabitants of the planet by eating them ( well most of them). he, along with the rest of his team, survived and used their knowledge and skills to find a way to get back to their own home planet.
if earth all of a sudden turned into a zombie apocalypse. his chance of survival & of wakanda would be very high. he would do one of three things. he would - along with other scientist that haven’t been affected - come up with a cure ( i mean hell wakanda has a cure for cancer ), create a virus that will kill all zombies or he would evacuate wakanda and himself (plus those he deems as friends ) to another planet.

you know, all last night i have been thinking about this question. i almost got out of bed and turned my computer on to answer it. t’challa, before joining the avengers, has kept in tune with the world’s current events. followed the politics of every country. followed & read thesis of bruce banner, tony stark, reed richards, hank pym, henry mccoy, & every other scientist that he deemed as worthy of his time. when it came to pop-culture, he never really kept up to date with it. he dabbled a bit when he studied abroad in america. throughout his college years his friends & (then girlfriend) monica would show him some very recent pop culture of that time. he enjoyed and followed it to the extent that kept him connected with monica & his other friends. however, when he returned home, t’challa didn’t keep up to date on much. when he became an official member of the avengers, he would catch up on historical movies/tv shows of martin luther king, based on black history month, fresh prince of belair, glory road, pride etc etc. he followed artists like Kendrick Lamar, beyonce, rihanna, ellie goulding (he is a fan). game of thrones books - whenever he has time he reads a few chapters - he’s still going. it was clint & jane that broaden his knowledge (such as watching the breakfast club, say anything, fight club, clueless, music videos such as the cha cha slide & hammer time ) however, he has not seen lotr, harry potter (he watched a few recently), disney movies, star wars, star trek, etc. most pop culture references go over his head but he manages to catch a few (especially when clint, scott, peter parker, peter quill or the other younger avengers use them)

words do not hold power over you until you allow it to. words have no power until you inflict emotions in your tone. & that is how he sees the world. you can call someone by their name and it could be meaningless until your inflict anger, love, or fear into your voice. yet, there are some words he wishes were wiped from the human vocabulary.
t’challa understands the history of the word, how it is derived from the latin word meaning black. yet it doesn’t mistake the fact that it has been established and used as a derogative term for someone with different colour. while yes, he is a strong believer in the power of words lies truly on whether you give it power or not, he hates the term. it discriminates humans from humans.
in wakanda, the term is never to be heard only by those living in the outer villages & usually when said are to disrespect another. i remember reading a comic where racial slurs were present (this was in america when he was visiting) & he ignores them and takes it in stride. yet it makes him angry. you will never find him (or any wakandans ) using any derogative term towards anybody (latin, italian, german, jew, english, etc etc ) no matter their status or their occupation.

oh my god !! that is amazing. i can’t wait to hear chadwicks reaction on the kids dressing up as t’challa for halloween. honestly, day made. especially considering you thought of me when you saw the little ankle bitter as the black panther !!

you & me both !! each time they announce a new member joining the black panther cast. i get even more excited for the film !!

i find that people either don’t like the marvel fandom or do. i honestly like the marvel fandom. the only problems i’ve ever had with it are canon wise. just a few plot lines here or there i don’t agree with. but the fandom itself ?? no problem on my end !! the only drama i’ve been in is completely character wise. i’ve made some amazing friends and rp partners. but … there have been people like you’ve said that haven’t meshed well with the fandom. i could say the same for other fandoms - game of thrones, d.c, teen wolf, the vampire diaries, the 100 etc etc. any fandom could work with you or without you. don’t make your decision because of someone else’s experience. follow people that mesh with your writing & want to be here to have fun, then you will have an amazing time. plus there is always the unfollow button if people are stirring trouble or see things you don’t want on your dash.

that entirely depends on the character you want to play !! I know a lot of people who have picked up muses from the marvel cinematic universe and roleplay purely in that universe. they haven’t read the comics or anything else beyond the movies / tv shows. so if you are playing a character from the netflix series, tv series, or movie - & entirely comfortable with sticking with that area. then i say stick with what you know !! if you want to try your hand & dip into the comic side then i would highly suggest reading the main line of your characters comics & venture out from there.
